WHY DO YOU LIKE HEALTH AND WELLNESS SO MUCH?
Health and wellness is important to me because we are only giving one body to live in. We have to try our hardest to be happy with ourselves and work towards goals you want to achieve. When you are not happy with yourself, that energy rubs off on the people around you. Health and Wellness is not just exercise and diet, there is a mental and emotional aspect to it as well.
EDUCATION & BACKGROUND
Bachelors in Public Health with an emphasis in Wellness & Fitness, with a minor in Nutrition. In College I interned at a CrossFit gym and became level one CrossFit certified and that’s when I knew I wanted to do personal training!
TRAINING STYLE
I specialize specifically in weight loss and strength training. All of my workouts are written tailored to your specific goals! I train clients of all age levels I currently have a client that is 18 and one that is 69. There is no age limit on fitness! I also offer workouts for off days from training with me as well!

We can talk about what your goals are and come up with a plan together to help you reach those goals. Goals do not happen overnight, we will stay consistent together and I will be there for you as a personal motivator even when we are not training together in the gym! I truly believe in being the greatest version of yourself! From someone who was almost 300 pounds to now at 26 years old being physically & mentally in the best shape of my life just shows that when you take care of your body, it will take care of you. After 4 knee surgeries , I’ve never been able to say I am pain free until after I have made this lifestyle change. You & your body deserve to live a long eventful life. With a correct diet & daily workout routine it expanded my mind to be greatest in everything I do!
EDUCATION & BACKGROUND
I was born in Croatia & raised in Waterloo. I graduated from Waterloo West High School & then Studied at The Salon Professional Academy to become a Barber. Through self-employment barbering, I found more time towards taking care of my wellbeing. After completely changing my life, I found a passion in helping others change theirs. I took my skills further & became a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

Every client will be catered to individually depending on the goals they wish to achieve. Whether its Weight loss, Muscle gains, Flexibility, Endurance, or wanting to just become overall healthier, a highly structured program will be created to reach any goal. WHY DO YOU LIKE HEALTH AND WELLNESS SO MUCH?
I grew up in a household and community where you put your head down and worked as hard as you could from sun up to sun down. I also grew up in a community where exercise, healthy nutrition, and sleep all got put on the back burner. By the time I was 21 years old I was tired of being “skinny fat” as well as tired all the time. I started to exercise on a regular basis and have never looked back since! Quickly I realized I could take the work ethic I learned growing up and apply that to running, lifting, stretching, and proper nutrition. In my 30’s I would say I’m in the best shape of my life. I’m in love with health and wellness because I think you deserve EVERYTHING that you get out of it! I learn something new about myself everyday.
EDUCATION & BACKGROUND
I got my AA in Education from Kirkwood Community College and studied Exercise Science/Leisure Services at the University of Northern Iowa. I’m currently the Fitness Specialist at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex. I’m a Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Group Fitness Instructor, and a Certified Nutrition Coach. I consistently run 30-40 miles per week with the focus of running ultra marathons. I also strength train 3 hours a week with the focus on increase muscle mass. My goal is to not just be a runner, but instead find balance between strength and endurance. I want to be able to do what I want, when I want, for as long as I can!
TRAINING STYLE
Lifting is like anything else, practice makes progress. Most of my sessions would be classified as high volume strength training. Instead of 4 sets of an exercise I prefer to work up to 6-10 sets of each move. As we get in better shape we’ll continue to fit more work into each session to maximize both strength and endurance.

When I grew up we hardly had money to keep the lights on, let alone afford a personal trainer. CHELSEY BOWERMASTER

WHY DO YOU LIKE HEALTH AND WELLNESS SO MUCH?
I am passionate about helping others achieve their defined quality of life. I grew up on a farm, spending most days riding horses and playing outside. My mom worked for many years at a fitness facility, and when I was 13, I started lifting weights to become a stronger runner — I can’t imagine life without fitness. I think our best potential is achieved when we actively move toward seemingly impossible goals. Quality of life is only achieved through consistency and active steps towards being better each day.
EDUCATION & BACKGROUND
I graduated from the University of Iowa with my Bachelors Degree. I have certifications and experience in clinical health coaching, personal training, cardiac rehabilitation, exercise for oncology patients, diabetes prevention, endurance sport injury prevention and post-surgical therapy exercise. Personally, I am a wife, mom and marathoner/endurance athlete pursuing my next PR goal of sub 3:10 in the marathon.

Every unique and individual story requires a different prescription, technique and the ability to be flexible to reach goals. My experience in working with all ages, sizes and physical abilities has taught me to be flexible in my method of training — and I believe everyone can benefit from coaching! I pursue a holistic (whole body) approach: sleep, stress, environment and nutrition are all parts of fitness, too.

I am a lifelong learner, and am dedicated to accountability both in/outside of the gym. Nutrition, sleep, stress levels and environment are all key elements to a healthy and full life. My goal as a fitness leader is to help establish healthy habits, routine and success. Throughout my four years of high school I always enjoyed strength & conditioning and enjoyed being active. Health and Wellness has helped me learn how to be persistent and disciplined in all areas of my life. It helped build my self confidence and find a sense of belonging.
EDUCATION & BACKGROUND
I consistently lifted all four years of high school and kept working out after I graduated. I’m currently a college student at Hawkeye and am learning more about fitness and health every semester through the movement exercise science program. I’ve been able to share my knowledge with my friends and loved ones and have had the pleasure of getting them to their desired goals.
TRAINING STYLE
My training style is more focused on strength and endurance training. Everyone has their own personal desired goals and I’d love to help people on their journey in the gym. Weight lifting and athleticism are key components in my personal training journey.
WHY PICK ME
I remember when I first started lifting outside of my school and recall how intimidating and challenging the gym was for me. I hope to help other women become comfortable and confident in the gym, as well as educate them about working out and the benefits it has on our health. Working out is significantly different for women so helping other women achieve their goals and feel comfortable and beautiful in their own bodies is a huge passion of mine.
